Ingredients:
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tbsp baking powder
- 2 tbsp granulated sugar
- ½ tsp salt
- 2 large eggs
- 1 ½ cups whole milk
- ½ cup unsalted butter, melted and cooled slightly
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
Instructions:
- In a medium mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, sugar, and salt until well combined.
- In a second mixing bowl, beat the eggs, then stir in the milk, melted butter, and vanilla extract.
- Pour the wet mixture into the dry mixture and stir with a spatula just until the flour streaks disappear; do not overmix.
- Preheat your waffle iron until the indicator light signals it is ready and lightly grease the plates with cooking spray or melted butter.
- Pour about ½ cup of batter onto the center of the iron, close the lid, and cook until the steam stops escaping the sides and the waffle is a deep mahogany-gold.
- Carefully remove the waffle with a fork or tongs and place it on a wire cooling rack for 30 seconds to maintain crispness.
