Ingredients:
- 1/2 cup (115g) unsalted butter, melted and warm
- 1 cup (200g) granulated white sugar
- 1/4 cup (60ml) whole milk
- 1/2 cup (45g) unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1/2 cup (65g) all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp (5ml) vanilla extract
- 1/4 tsp (1.5g) salt
- 1/4 tsp (1g) baking powder
- 1/2 cup (85g) semi-sweet chocolate chips
- flaky sea salt for garnish
Instructions:
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line an 8x8 inch baking pan with parchment paper, leaving an overhang on the sides for easy removal.
- Whisk the melted butter and cocoa powder together in a large bowl until smooth and glossy to ensure no cocoa clumps remain.
- Stir in the white sugar and milk. Whisk vigorously for 1-2 minutes until the mixture looks shiny and the sugar has begun to dissolve.
- Fold in the vanilla extract and salt.
- Sift in the flour and baking powder. Use a spatula to fold the mixture gently until just combined; stop immediately once the white streaks of flour disappear.
- Fold in the semi-sweet chocolate chips.
- Pour the batter into the prepared pan and smooth the top with a spatula.
- Bake on the center rack for 25-30 minutes. Test the center with a toothpick to ensure it is set but still fudgy.
