Ingredients:
- 2 Granny Smith apples, peeled and diced (approx. 1 lb / 450g)
- 3 tbsp unsalted butter
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 2 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1 tbsp lemon juice
- 2 cups heavy whipping cream, cold
- 1 can (14 oz) sweetened condensed milk
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 pinch salt
Instructions:
- Melt the butter in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the diced apples and stir until they begin to soften.
- Sprinkle in the brown sugar and 1 tsp of cinnamon, stirring constantly for 5–8 minutes until the apples are mahogany-colored. Stir in the lemon juice, remove from heat, and let cool completely.
- In a chilled bowl, beat the cold heavy cream using a hand mixer or stand mixer until stiff peaks form.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the sweetened condensed milk, remaining cinnamon, vanilla, and salt.
- Gently fold the whipped cream into the condensed milk mixture using a silicone spatula, being careful not to deflate the air.
- Pour half of the cream mixture into a 9x5 inch loaf pan. Spoon half of the cooled caramelized apples on top. Repeat with the remaining cream and apples.
- Use a knife or spatula to gently swirl the apples into the cream to create a marble effect. Cover with plastic wrap and freeze for at least 6 hours.
