Ingredients:

  • 2 large Granny Smith apples (approx. 1 lb / 450g)
  • 4 tbsp (55g) brown sugar, packed
  • 1 tsp (2g) ground cinnamon
  • 2 tbsp (28g) unsalted butter, cubed

Instructions:

  1. Core the apples, removing the center seeds and tough core, leaving a floor about ½ inch thick at the bottom to hold the filling.
  2. Spoon the cinnamon-sugar mixture into the center of each apple, followed by a cube of butter.
  3. Wrap each apple individually in a double layer of heavy-duty foil, twisting the ends tightly to create an airtight seal.
  4. Place the foil packets directly onto the hot embers of a campfire. Rotate the apples every 5-7 minutes for 15-20 minutes, or until the apple gives way easily when pressed with tongs.
