Ingredients:
- 6 large Granny Smith or Honeycrisp apples, peeled, cored, and sliced into 1/4 inch wedges
- 2 tbsp unsalted butter
- 1/2 cup light brown sugar, packed
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1 tsp pure vanilla extract
- 1 tbsp cornstarch
- 1 tbsp cold water
Instructions:
- Peel, core, and slice the apples into uniform 1/4 inch wedges.
- Place a large skillet over medium heat and melt the butter until it begins to foam.
- Stir in the brown sugar, cinnamon, and salt. Stir continuously for 1–2 minutes until the sugar has melted into a bubbling syrup.
- Add the apple slices to the skillet, tossing gently to coat each piece in the cinnamon butter.
- Cook for 5–8 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the apples are tender but not falling apart.
- Stir in the cornstarch slurry (cornstarch mixed with cold water) and vanilla extract.
- Simmer for an additional 1–2 minutes until the sauce transforms into a glossy, thick glaze.
