Ingredients:

  • 2 lbs boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 1 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • ¾ cup BBQ sauce
  • 1 tbsp apple cider vinegar

Instructions:

  1. Pat the chicken breasts completely dry with paper towels. Use a meat mallet to pound the thickest part of the breast until the piece is a uniform thickness of about ¾ inch.
  2. Combine the brown sugar, smoked paprika, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper. Coat each chicken breast generously on all sides with the rub.
  3. Preheat the grill to medium-high (approximately 375°F to 400°F). Place the chicken on the grates and grill uncovered for about 5–7 minutes per side until charred grill marks appear.
  4. Mix the BBQ sauce with apple cider vinegar. During the last 3–5 minutes of cooking, brush a thick layer of the mixture onto the chicken.
  5. Flip the chicken once more to let the sauce bubble and caramelize. Remove from heat immediately when the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C).
  6. Allow the chicken to rest for 5 minutes before serving.
